Ken Taylor and George Welch took off in their P-40 Warhawks from the isolated Haleiwa airfield in western Oahu in an attempt to intercept Japanese aircraft. In the first US action of the war (excluding American Volunteer Group pilots), Ken Taylor is seen diving on to a group of Aichi D3A 'Val' dive bombers making their way to the already battered US fleet at Pearl Harbor. Ken was slightly wounded during the action, and without George covering his tail, he would likely have been shot down. Both George and Ken claimed to have shot down three enemy aircraft.

Original oil on canvas painting by Brian Bateman.

Size 12 inches x 9 inches (31cm x 23cm)

Victory for White Two by Brian Bateman. Knight's Realm by Brian Bateman.
Spring, April 15, 1945. With the pincers from both the Eastern and Western Fronts encircling the Third Reich any hopes of a German victory had long since been crushed. The German pilots goal now was to survive from day to day and wish for a quick end to an already hopeless situation. The pilots of the vaunted JG26 had been respected and feared in the war since their inception on 28 September 1939 to their bitter end in 1945, achieving more than 2,700 aerial victories, a kill ratio of 3 to 1. Even though these pilots realized the final outcome of this war they continued to fight on as ordered - some for honor, most flying reconnaissance and low level bombing attacks against oncoming allied forces trying to stop the insurgence of armies into the Fatherland.

Only two available.

Signed by :
Karl-Georg Genth
and
John Jack Stafford.

Signed limited edition of 226 prints.

Paper size 26 inches x 21 inches (66cm x 53cm)

DHM6282.
