These aircraft were among the first to bomb the enemy gun emplacements and reinforcements situated along the beaches in order to help clear the way for the Allied landings that were just hours away at the start of Operation Overlord.  These B.26s carried out low level bombing sorties over Utah Beach, their low altitude being the key to their high level of success and accuracy.
