This painting depicts the battle between Manfred von Richthofen and Lieutenant Ronald George Adams of 73 Squadron. Since his arrival on the battlefield in the late summer of 1916, this made Richthofen's 78th victory out of a final total of 80.  The aircraft he was flying was a Fokker Drl No 477\/17.  It is shown with red upper wing surfaces, tail plane, rudder and wheel covers.  National markings were in the process of change in March\/April 1918.
