17th Lancers, Dispersing in Pursuit During a Field Day by Richard Simkin [New Print Edition]
The 17th was formed in 1759 as the 18th Light Dragoons before being renumbered in 1763. Their motto of'Death or Glory' and deaths head cap badge would become icons highlighting the regiments history of bravery and fearlessness. Most notable being their part in the Charge of the Light Brigade at Balaklava and at Ulundi, the final battle of the Anglo-Zulu war.
