The Battle of Ivry, fought on the 14th of March, 1590 was a major battle during the French War of Religion. Forces of the French Crown led by Henry IV and supported by English troops faced the Catholic League forces led by Due de Mayenne who was supported by Spanish troops. Depicted here, Henry IV with his distinctive white helmet plume spurs his troops into battle. The battle would be a major victory against the Catholic League, who took heavy casualties and had any men captured as prisoners.
