Aiding A Comrade by Frederic Remington [Postcard]
During the American frontier wars, horse skirmishes were perilous due to their speed and intensity. These fast-paced gun battles resulted in high casualties and made it difficult to see and assess the enemy increasing the risk of ambushes and friendly fire. The stress of rapid combat, coupled with the challenge of controlling horses, put riders under immense physical and psychological strain. A fall from a horse during such intense and unpredictable gunfights greatly increased the risk of injury or death at the hands of Native American tribes
