Raised in 1685 by the Earl of Peterborough, the 2nd Dragoon Guards would take part in fighting the Jacobite army during the Jacobite Risings, along with seeing action in the Indian Rebellion and Boer War. They would take part in most of the major action on the Western Front in WWI and in France and Italy during WWII.
