During the Action of Elogues, a small skirmish that took place on the 24th of August 1914, the 4th (Royal Irish) Dragoon Guards and 'A' Squadron, the 9th (Queen's Royal) Lancers led a successful cavalry charge against German gun positions, pictured here.
