NBP0106. Custers Last Stand by Edgar Samuel Paxson

George Armstrong Custer died on June 25, 1876, during the Battle of the Little Bighorn, a key engagement in the Great Sioux War. Leading the 7th Cavalry Regiment, Custer and his troops were vastly outnumbered by the combined forces of the Lakota, Northern Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes. Underestimating the size and fighting capability of the Native American forces, Custers battalion was quickly overwhelmed. Custer, along with more than 260 of his men, was killed in the ensuing battle, famously known as Custer's Last Stand
