Forbach, 1870 by Alexandre Bloch [New Print Edition]

The Battle of Forbach took place on August 6, 1870, during the Franco-Prussian War, near the village of Spicheren in France. The German forces, led by Karl Friedrich von Steinmetz, defeated the French army under Charles Auguste Frossard, despite the French putting up a strong resistance. The Germans suffered significant casualties but ultimately secured a strategic victory.
