The Battle of Kulm was a considerably bloody battle for both the French forces and the Coalition forces. While ending in a overall French defeat, with General Vandamme being captured and the remaining French troops withdrawing - the casualties inflicted on the Coalition forces were not insignificant. Facing attacks from all sides by Russians, Austrians and Prussians the French would lose between 13,000 and 25,000 men - the coalition forces would lose around 12,000 as a result of the valiant defence put up by Vandamme's troops. Seen here, Prussian General von Kleist is surprised by a French cavalry breakthrough.
