During the Revolutionary War, after the Battle of Princeton on January 3, 1777, George Washington attended Nassau Hall in Princeton New Jersey. Nassau Hall, part of the College of New Jersey, had been occupied by British troops and was used as a defensive position during the battle, Following the American victory, Washington was congratulated by congress members at Nassau hall, and his presence there symbolized a significant triumph for the Continental Army and boosted morale among the American forces and supporters.
