Montretout, Defence of Longboyau's Gate by Alphonse De Neuville

A notable incident in the Battle of Buzenval, 21st of October 1870, was the defence of Longboyau's gate. Captain Nismes encountered Prussian troops in close proximity to the French position on one side of a wall and proceeded to fight them through the bars in a large metal gate. Ultimately 11 French soldiers and 15 horses would be killed in this risky and frantic engagement.
