The Battle of Eylau, fought on February 7-8, 1807, in the harsh winter of East Prussia, was a brutal and indecisive clash between Napoleons Grande Army and the Russian Army under General Bennigsen, marked by staggering casualties, horrific conditions and a massive French cavalry charge led by Murat. Ultimately the battle would end without a clear victor but deal a serious blow to Napoleons image of invincibility.
