Napoleon Leaving The Lobau After The Defeat At The Battle Of Aspern by Anton Von Perger [Postcard]
Napoleon's loss at the Battle of Aspern-Essling on May 21-22, 1809 marked his first significant defeat. The Austrian forces under Archduke Charles successfully halted the French advance near Vienna by destroying key bridges over the Danube River, disrupting Napoleon's troop movements and supply lines. Despite initial French successes the well-coordinated Austrian counterattacks and logistical challenges forced Napoleon to withdraw, suffering substantial casualties in the process.
Collectors postcard - first edition of 90 cards.
Postcard size 6 inches x 4 inches (15cm x 10cm)
