Napoleons Escape From Leipzig on October 19th, 1813 by Richard Knotel_x000d__x000d_
Napoleons defeat at the Battle of Leipzig was a crucial turning point in the Napoleonic Wars. Facing a coalition of Russian, Prussian, Austrian, and Swedish forces, Napoleons army was outnumbered and despite some early successes, eventually overwhelmed. This culminated in heavy casualties and a retreat back towards the Rhine and onto the Battle of Hanau.
