The Battle of Cedar Creck was a significant engagement in the American Civil War. Confederate General Jubal Early launched a surprise attack on Union forces commanded by General Philip Sheridan, initially achieving significant gains and pushing the Union troops back. However, Sheridan, who was away from the battlefield at the start of the battle, quickly rallied his forces and led a counterattack that turned the tide. The Union army decisively defended the Confederates, securing a crucial victory that effectively ended Early's campaign and contributed to the Union's dominance in the Shenandoah Valley.
