The Battle of Culloden, 16th April 1746 by David Rowlands.
The Kings Regiment positioned behind the Leanach dyke, opens a deadly flanking fire on the Highlanders of the Atholl Brigade, on the right wing of the Jacobite Army, under the command of Colonel William Barrell, played a significant role on the British Royal Army's left flank. They were positioned on rising ground, protected by a dyke, and their fire inflicted heavy casualties on the charging Highlanders of the Atholl Brigade. The regiment suffered considerable losses, with Lieutenant Colonel Robert Rich losing a hand and nearly losing his other arm.
