The Battle of Nashville pitted Union forces under Major General George H. Thomas against Confederate General John Bell Hood's army in Tennessee. The battle resulted in a decisive Union victory as Thomas's troops overwhelmed Hood's forces with a combination of superior numbers and effective tactics.
