The Battle of Omdurman took place on the 2nd of September 1898 between British forces and Mahdist State forces in Sudan as part of the Anglo-Egyptian conquest of Sudan. Pictured here is the charge of the 21st Lancers against a flanking force of Mahdist troops. Taken from the original book plates published in 1909. PLEASE NOTE: There is a minor spelling error on the title on the back of the card, it says Amdurman, when it is meant to say Omdurman.
