The 7th Cavalry, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer, was a U.S. Army regiment known for its role in the Indian Wars during the late 19th century. It gained notoriety for its involvement in the Battle of the Little Bighorn in June 1876, where Custer and his forces faced a combined coalition of Native American tribes, resulting in a disastrous defeat for the 7th Cavalry and the death of Custer and most of his men. This battle became emblematic of the conflicts between the U.S. government and Native American tribes during westward expansion.
