The Battle of Rezonville, fought on August 16, 1870, during the Franco-Prussian War, was a fierce clash between French and Prussian forces. The French, under General Fransois MacMahon sought to break through the Prussian lines to relieve their besieged comrades at Metz. The battle was marked by intense combat in the village of Rezonville and its surrounding areas with both sides suffering heavy casualties.
