Formed in 1881 when the 91st Argyllshire Highlanders and the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders were merged. They would serve in the Boer war and valiantly in WWI, winning 6 Victoria Crosses throughout the regiment. They would go on to see significant involvement in the Africa and Italy campaigns of WWII.
