The Speedy Capturing the Gamo by Charles Dixon (B)
On May 6, 1801, during the War of the Second Coalition, British Commander Lord Cochrane, aboard the sloop-of-war HMS Speedy, captured the Spanish xebec-frigate El Gamo off Barcelona. Despite El Gamo's superior size, firepower and crew, Cochrane's strategic tactics led to a decisive British victory.
